Week 5 Friday

This week has been successful! We changed the gearing for the arm to give us more torque. Before, our arm was moving way too fast to control. We also changed the metal on our arm and built the part that will pick up the start during the challenge. Our goal is to be launching stars over the fence within the next 2 weeks!

Week 5 Monday

Today the bot is going to get a tune. My team and I are going to stop the gears from grinding and make the turning stable. So we can make sure the gears won't grind and we lose the package.

Week 4 Monday Post

This week there is not much to be done. Our only goal for this week is to finish the arm. Our arm will take after this robot but we plan to use plexiglass instead of metal as the scoop.

robot solid works chasis

The interior design to the robot is the standard 18 by 18 squarebot. It runs on tank drive controlled by four motors and has a gear ratio of 4:2, which allows for speed. Each side of the robot has 4 wheels for extra traction.

Week 3 Friday Post

Week 3 and we are almost done with the robot. We coded our robot to run on 2 joystick tank drive and we started to build the main structure of the arm to the robot. Once we are done all we have to do is code and we will be done. We always put a license plate with our team name on it.

Week 3 Monday post

This week our group plans to get to a least the halfway mark of building the robot. We put building the arm to a halt because we are trying to program the drive for our robot. We hope to finish that in a day or two. On the flip side the arena is pretty much done so everything is all coming together.

Week 2 Friday post

This week plenty of things get done. In short we finished the chassis, put the gears in, and all we have to do is put in the motors. Now we are starting on the arm but it is currently in the development phase. We should most of it done by next week.

Week 2 Monday post

The first day on building our robot was on point. Our team had a game plan that mainly focus on the (1) chassis of the robot, (2) Gears ratio, (3) motors, and finally (hopefully) robot & programing. But there are many factors that can  affect our robots performance. More updates are soon to be posted,

Week 1 Friday post

This week our group finished a lot of things with the robot. We familiarized ourselves with the game rules and came up with the idea for our robot. We are using a dump method were we scoop made the objectives and put them on the other side. Another thing we are doing is using two rails to support the arm and distribute weight evenly. We drew it out on solidworks and we started building.
